The Drug-Free Safety Program (DFSP) provides a discount for promoting a work environment free of drugs and alcohol.
Potential Incentive: 4% for DFSP basic; 7% for DFSP advanced.
Employers can help the environment by reducing paperwork and receive a premium discount for getting their payroll report electronically, reporting their payroll and paying premiums in full on www.bwc.ohio.gov
Potential Incentive: 1% premium discount (up to $1,000 every six months).
The program was created to help spur job creation in the state by offering significant discounts on workers’ compensation to new employers. (BWC considers a new employer as a new business entity or an out-of-state business that creates one or more jobs.)
Potential Incentive:
Helps employers improve workplace safety by focusing on risks associated with specific industry types and developing strategies to prevent injuries. Requirements include completion of an online safety and claims management self-assessment and completion of one, two or three loss-prevention activities, depending on the employer’s payroll.
Potential Incentive: 3%
Employers that have had no lapses in coverage during the past 60 months can receive a premium discount.
Potential Incentive: 1% premium discount (up to $1,000 every six months).
A staff leasing/professional employer organization (PEO) is a company that enters into a contractual agreement to employ all or part of the work force for a client employer and then leases those workers back to the client employer on a permanent basis. Premiums are paid to the PEO.
Potential Incentive: 0-25% savings below BWC Premium Rates.
Employers can increase safety awareness and receive a premium rebate by participating in a local safety council. They can earn an additional rebate for reductions in claims frequency and severity.
Potential Incentive: 2% rebate for participation; 2% bonus rebate for performance.
Employers with an approved transitional work plan may receive a back-end discount for using it to return injured workers to the workplace in a safe, timely manner.
Potential Incentive: 10% bonus for using an established transitional work program; applicable to claims with dates of injury within that policy year.
Employers that have not received a transitional work grant from BWC in the past may apply for funds to help them contract with certified transitional work developers to establish a transitional work program in their workplace.
Potential Incentive: 10% bonus for using an established transitional work program; applicable to claims with dates of injury within that policy year.
The 15K Program allows an employer to pay up to the first $15,000 in medical expenses for employees who suffer work-related injuries that result in seven or fewer lost days from work. This Program is Not Recommended.
Potential Savings: Employers will receive minimal savings even when the program is administered properly.
